12 Important Tips for Success in JEE (Main) 2018



It is a matter of pride for the students to qualify for admissions to IITs. JEE (Main) is the toughest engineering entrance examination. It is also the most prestigious test for admission to IIT. As IIT is the premier technical institute of the country, all meritorious and deserving students first try to get through its entrance examination. JEE(Main) 2018 is going to be held only next month. The time is running out and all the IIT aspirants have kept themselves absorbed in preparing for it. They consult one teacher and book after another to know about tips for success in it. Being the most prestigious engineering entrance tests, It is also the toughest one. So, students who are going to appear at the examination must make best use of their time. 

JEE Main is scheduled on the 8th of April 2018

JEE Main Paper I Offline Exam (Pen and paper based)        April 8, 2018 (9.30 am to 12.30 noon)

JEE Main Paper II (Offline)           April 8, 2018 (2 pm to 5 pm)
JEE Main Paper I Online Exam    April 15 and 16, 2018 (9.30 am to 12.30 noon) (2 pm to 5 pm) Central Board Secondary Education (CBSE) will be conducting this exam across India.

More than 10 lakh students will be competing to secure a seat in their dream engineering college. Top 2.2 Lakhs students will qualify for JEE Advanced which is conducted by the Joint Admission Board of the IIT's. Whereas, CBSE will publish a separate merit list comprising of All India Rank and Home State Rank based on JEE Main score basis which students can then opt for their desired engineering college viz NIT, IIIT, Central Funded Technical Institutes.

This year there will be no weight-age on board marks on deciding the All India Rank in JEE Main. With just about three weeks left for the exam, all serious aspirants must stick to a regime so that the entire year's effort does not go waste.

12 tips that may help students to get through this important exam:


1. Do not make any plan for studying in a hurry. Think deeply about the important topics and revise it carefully. Students must prepare for JEE (Main) with an eye on JEE(Advance).

2. Make a subject-wise check list to revise or to practice it as many times as you can before the exam.

3. Students may confront with a few questions, which are related to practical, in JEE(Main). Students who have done practical in their schools will easily solve them. So, it is beneficial for them to refer lab manual or practical notebook to refresh the memory.

5. Go through a full length test paper every alternate day i.e. a minimum of 2-3 question papers before JEE Main 2018. It is utmost necessary for IIT aspirants to ensure the analysis of their attempts, the hits and the misses and the reason for the misses. If they are writing paper based JEE Main, attempt paper based test and if they are going to appear online, then your practice must be in online form. Those of you, who will be appearing JEE Main in online form, do make sure you solve offline

6. If there is any question that the students find them difficult to solve, they must not get nervous. Rather, to regain confidence they must try representative questions. Even then they are unable to solve, they must move ahead and don’t get upset with it.

8. If the students have not been able to revise Class 11 syllabus between November 2018 and January 2018, then they must devote one or two days to do a quick revision of Class 11 syllabus as almost 40-45 per cent questions will be asked from that portion. Revisit your revision notes for a quick recapitulation of concepts, formula, fact based information and definition etc

9. Last 72 hours before JEE Main must be kept as light as possible.

10. Sleep well and devote five to six hours of study daily. Avoid late night studies. Keep a watch on your diet and have your food on time

11. Engage in light free hand exercise and relax for some time

12. Get your exam kit ready well in advance viz JEE Main admit card, Aadhar card etc. Check your exam centre location, address, landmark, route well before time. If possible, ask anyone in your family to pay a visit one day in advance to gain familiarity with exam centre route/location
